1968 Two-Tone Mercury Cougar

Here is a clean example of a first generation Mercury Cougar, Mercury's upscale version of the Ford Mustang that competed in the pony car market. We've always loved these cars, especially the divided front grille with hidden headlamps and vertical bars that defined the front fascia and the similarly slatted grillework that concealed the taillights, a styling touch taken from the Thunderbird.

According to the seller, this is a rust-free Georgia car that was professionally restored in 2008 and is numbers matching. The trim codes decode as Cardinal Red Paint with Polar White Roof Paint. The car features the original engine (302-2V rebuilt) and transmission, date correct a/c, original bumpers (re-chromed), seats, exterior trim, tinted glass and the original spoked hubcaps including Mercury man center caps.

We think this is one nice Cougar that appears to be in excellent condition.

Find it here on Hemmings in Kennesaw, Georgia for $16,900.
